I admit it. The reason I wanted to go to Lake Como since because I had heard George Clooney has a house there (which was featured in Oceans Twelve). I didn’t think we’d see him but figured he had good taste. The trip to northern Italy was not only a relief from the heat but had incredible scenery food delectable food.
The Fiat Panda that we drove from Lucca. Not the smoothest ride but the cheapest. We ended up staying outside of Como and circumnavigated the lake.
There are lots of long, long tunnels on the east side of the lake while the west side was much more scenic.
This was the second time we stayed at the end of the road. This door is literally the end of the road.
The marker B is the end of the road, just passed where we stayed in Bugiallo. The steep and winding road leads down to the northwestern most tendril of Lake Como.
In addition to the super moon, we experienced this stunning rainbow.
We got a surprising amount of work done here. It doesn’t feel like work with the stunning view. The restaurant was the local hangout for beer drinking men plus one friendly dog.
I am suspicious of hotel restaurants but the food at Osteria Tamola was excellent. This is their hearty venison stew tasted just like home cooking.
Greetings from Italy!
We went to Pizzeria Spluga twice to get the highly recommended pies. The first day we just missed lunch and the second, there were no pizzas. This turned out to be lucky because instead we ordered this incredible selection of cured fish from Lake Como.
I can’t end on a picture of teeny fishes. Here are some goats seeking shade in their hay trough. Clever!
