I always wanted a year-long honeymoon. And now the preparations are beginning…the wedding happened, this blog has been started, South America on a Shoestring has been ordered. This is already an adventure, changing how I view the world. Everything is viewed through the lens of the trip. Embracing a minimal lifestyle comes with travel so shopping has lost it’s allure. Knowing we’ll be getting rid of most of our stuff, we’re starting to reduce to the essentials now.
The last time I went travelling was the year 2000. I carried a 72 liter pack, mailed rolls of film home to myself, and checked Hotmail at a cyber cafe when there was one. A dozen years later and planning a working holiday, many of the trip preparations involve technology. And travelling light will be the key.
There’s a lot to do – plan a route, develop on-line businesses, figure out the best gear, gadgets, and clothes to pack. I’m excited to share all the planning, what we end up doing and taking with us, and how it all works out.
