My have times changed over the years. Just a decade ago, there really an extensive list of travel gadgets to consider taking along, yet now in 2012 there is a ridiculous number of gadgets or technology to consider.
When I went to Costa Rica in 2000 my travel gadget list consisted of flashlight, rechargeable batteries, Sony walkman, 35mm point and shoot film camera, cassette tapes…so lets make a correction…there was no such thing as a travel gadget list.
But, today there is so much to consider such as iphone, ipad, apps to go along, laptop, digital cameras (compact and SLR), digital storage, GPS devices, the list goes on and on. So, we have a situation that is quite the opposite of what it was in 2000 – too much choice! And, too much to carry around. I am sure that I could spend hours researching online what would be the most magical handy things to take along. We’ll see where that goes.
Despite all the options I may think of or find, I am really going to keep it to a minimum. I want to keep the overall travel checklist light, and so keep it simple.
So, what do I like to do and what will enhance enjoyment?
- Take photos and videos. So I need a good digital camera. This will be a new one since my others are all a few years old now. I’ll let you know what I choose.
- Listen to music occasionally. My iphone will do the trick.
- Listen to local sounds around me. I’m going to invest in a new digital sound recorder.
- Research on what to do. I’ll take my laptop, or perhaps invest in an ipad for this. I will also need the laptop to work on the web business.
